Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Quality Assurance works with Aira’s executive team, customers, Automotive Tier-1 partners, and Asian manufacturing base to coordinate all aspects of the quality assurance, product reliability, and certification processes in a customer-facing role.

The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for all activities including internal systems, in-coming quality, out-going quality, product reliability, and validation/certification activities required to meet industry-leading Automotive standards (specifically, but not limited to IATF-16949, ISO-26262, PPAP and FCC/CE standards). The individual will also provide direct leadership to Aria’s customers in relation to product qualification and corrective action responses and will produce data and reports on performance, and measurement against KPI metrics. The role must work with all stakeholders to ensure that the QA and Reliability system is operating effectively and efficiently. The individual will build and execute changes required to the system and product and will generate the associated tools and training to enable the organization to achieve the highest levels of quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all quality assurance, product reliability certification, compliance, and performance improvement as determined by Automotive customer requirements and best-in-class industry standards
  • Develop and deploy the product quality assurance, product reliability, and certification plan addressing all phases of Automotive product development
  • Lead customer meetings from the quality assurance and reliability perspective, design and manage corrective actions and solution plans to achieve the required quality in an expedited manner appropriate to a start-up business
  • Set QA compliance objectives and ensure that KPI targets are achieved, reported, and communicated throughout the organization
  • Build and supervise quality assurance team, in Arizona, Asian manufacturing locations (centralized in Manila), and customer sites as needed, including the preparation and delivery of staff performance and development activities
  • Maintain awareness throughout the organization of best-in-class Automotive-quality practices, and the success implications of quality, including budgetary control issues
  • Design and manage the execution of product and customer validation and reliability plans
  • Assess the product specifications in conjunction with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and customers during the bid process, and subsequently manage expectations
  • Work with technical program and purchasing management to determine applicable quality compliance with external manufacturers and suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with national and international quality, environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Establish standards and clearly defined data analysis tools, procedures, metrics, and reports for all staff

Qualifications

  • 15+ years in quality assurance and product validation/reliability management roles in the automotive industry, with increasing responsibility over time
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and advanced quality training and certifications in automotive
  • Must be based at Aira’s headquarters in Chandler AZ, with the ability to travel quarterly to Aira’s Asian manufacturing locations
  • Significant experience in hardware and software manufacturing in electronic devices, preferably in both large and small companies
  • Broad experience working with Automotive OEM and Tier-1 customers
  • Demonstrated experience with data-based problem solving and reporting on the status of ongoing quality assurance, reliability and product validation, corrective action resolution, and compliance issues
  • Demonstrated ability working in a fast-paced start-up or new-venture environment with significant experience regarding risk and time management
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in both large and small groups with excellent presentation and cross-functional team influence skill
  • Motivation to support international business hours with worldwide customers, and Asian supply-chain partners and suppliers
  • Must be self-driven and show initiative with exceptional follow-up on active programs with multiple customers
  • Proficiency with Atlassian Jira, Slack, and Wrike is desired, with strong MS Office and program management/CRM/ERP tool skills
  • High proficiency with QS certification: IATF-16949, ISO-26262, PPAP

We are currently seeking a Director of Supply Chain with a focus on Electronic Components to join our team in Chandler, Arizona, or in the San Francisco Bay Area. Remote/hybrid arrangement will also be considered as Aira can be flexible based to suit the right candidate.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Supply Chain will interface with Aira’s Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Executive team to deliver cutting-edge wireless charging technology on time and cost-effectively. In this role you will establish our global supply chain strategy, support cross-functional teams during the development and industrialization phases and drive sound business decisions throughout the product life cycle.

You Will:

  • Establish our global supply chain strategy and manage Aira’s End-to-End Supply Chain Operations in a direct customer and supplier facing role
  • Support agile OEM customers (primarily automotive) across the US, EU, and Asia in a frequently changing supply-chain landscape
  • Source electronic components (including IC’s, PCBs, and passives) as well as mechanical components for contract/captive manufacturing in Asia (primarily Manila) but expanding to China, Mexico, and Eastern Europe over time
  • Engage with organizations and leaders across to enable collective Strategic Planning through yearly, and quarterly objectives tied to top-level initiatives
  • Perform cost benchmarking using industry expertise, data, and research to identify cost savings opportunities and efficiencies Responsible for “should be” costing models and provide input into RFQ and key sourcing activities as well as overall Supply Chain spend, savings and opportunities
  • Support cross-functional trade-off analysis to facilitate decision making
  • Participate and/or lead projects in the formation and execution of strategic operational projects
  • Represent Supply Chain organization in key corporate meetings to ensure real-time communication and problem-solving
  • Identify opportunities for improved process, collaboration, and coordination across key functions
  • Travel Requirements of Position: 10-25% travel, as needed

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field with a technical background
  • Experience in electronic hardware products and global BOM sourcing, particularly in the US and Asia. Automotive experience is preferred but not essential
  • Broad experience in BOM planning, sourcing, risk/alternate part strategies, expediting, logistics, freight and customs issues, with relevant experience working through supply chain disruption issues post-2020
  • Proven working knowledge of company operations, financial management, supplier contract creation and negotiation are required
  • Demonstrated understanding of corporate functions and proven track record in initiating and delivering results that have had a positive impact on operational efficiencies, cost reductions, and financial accountability
  • Proven experience in leading multiple projects and giving direction to various project leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to solve ambiguous, cross-functional problems and set execution plans
  • Highly effective communicator, presenting at various levels within the organization

The Technical Program Manager (TPM) works with a team of hardware and firmware/software engineers in conjunction with Aira’s business management and executive team to coordinate all aspects of the customer engagement process using an agile “scrum-based” product development system.

The TPM is responsible for first-level technical support of the customer, managing complex NPI and product ramp schedules, and providing critical feedback on Aira’s ability to rapidly align to customer needs. These activities include program milestones, technical Q&A, design alignment, product requirement documentation, implementation of change notices, and resolution of technical and supply-chain issues.   • Analyze, plan and develop requirements and standards in reference to scheduled projects
  • Assign and oversee the daily tasks of technical personnel while ensuring all team members are actively working toward established milestones
